Save Our Shores' Corporate Partnership Program Kickoff a "Smashing Success"

April 25, 2007, 10-11 AM, Save Our Shores Interpretive Center

(SANTA CRUZ, CA, April 25, 2007) The Interpretive Center at Save Our Shores was packed this morning for the Corporate Partnership Program Kickoff. The Santa Cruz business community was well represented with Satish Sheth and Rick Shapiro of CEMEX Corporation, Charles Canfield of the Seaside Company, Bill Tysseling of the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce and Aleta Johnson from Spa Fitness Center. Members of Save Our Shores' staff and Board of Directors were also in attendance. Guests listened intently as Board of Directors Treasurer Fred Keeley described the significance of the program. "It is important to have a way to recognize the businesses in our community that are making good environmental decisions, especially for our oceans. The health of our coast and ocean is a direct indicator of the health of our economy; people will visit our community for the ocean and beaches."

CEMEX Corporation was presented with a plaque for becoming Save Our Shores' inaugural Platinum level Corporate Partner with their $25,000 contribution. The contribution will help fund the Sanctuary Stewards Program, the Beach Cleanup Program and other public education campaigns. Additionally, if the Board of Directors can generate $25,000, CEMEX has committed to match the funds. Board members are currently seeking individual and business contributions at any level to reach this goal. Please contact Laura Kasa if you would like to help in any way. Businesses interested in becoming a leader in marine conservation efforts in our community should inquire about the Corporate Partnership Program.
